It’s that time again – the brief ‘Indian summer’ has drawn to a close, and winter is waiting. But who cares? The football season is underway. And Yoga Sports Science is part of it!
Earlier this week Premier League manager Alex McLeish went public and talked to the Sunday Mercury about the use of Sport-Specific Yoga at his club, Aston Villa FC. He praised its use, stressing that football teams need to be open to using new methods in their training to compete:
“If someone comes along and says they can get another few per cent out of you by doing something else then why not? It has worked for Ryan Giggs, and he is 37 and still going strong. It’s something that has been in the game longer than people realize”.
We’re really pleased to hear such a respected football manager – and some of his players – come out and say they believe in the benefits of Yoga for football training.
And we’re doubly pleased because it’s one of our Yoga Sports Coaches who is currently working at Aston Villa – a Premier League side with an illustrious history. She is delivering our pioneering Sports-Specific Yoga techniques to players, complementing and enhancing existing regimes and performance training.
And by the sounds of it, it’s working!
Yoga Sport Science wishes Aston Villa FC the best for the current season.
